When I came back to the real world, it was shouting words I tried to ignore. I said, “It’s Thursday. Let me sleep,” but it kept pushing: “You’ve got work to do, Katie.” It said, “Grind your way out of this town, and leave a path so it’s easier to come back around.”

But I don’t want to dig too deep. I’m not so tall. I’m afraid I’ll fall. It’s not even the end of the week.

This is when my life is falling apart, so help me off the couch again. It’s hard to grab my hands when my head is in them. Once the bags on my eyes stop blocking my sight, maybe I’ll finally see how I can get by.

But I don’t want to dig too deep. I’m not so tall. I’m afraid I’ll fall. It’s not even the end of the week.
